Before clients arrive for their loc transplant, we conduct a consultation to understand their unique situation. Each individual we meet is different, so a personal assessment is essential.
In this case, the client had long hair that he had grown for over 10 years, but he was experiencing balding on top and a receding hairline. Feeling hopeless, he considered cutting his hair. We proposed the option of repositioning his dreadlocks, which involved cutting off the triple and double locs that were joined previously. We would then trim from the back and relocate hair to the area's most in need, particularly his crown. After visiting us at Braids By Bee Inc., he chose a package and scheduled our services. I would like to introduce one of my clients who helped me rebrand my service, previously known as InstantLocs Dread Extensions™. As a History professor, she out that my technique resembled a hair transplant, where her own hair was relocated to fill in sparse areas on her scalp. After a consultation, she was thrilled by the I offered and quickly booked an appointment, coincidentally during my time in Atlanta, GA. Meeting for the first time, she trusted me to perform what we now call a "Dreadlock Transplant," and I appreciate her willingness to share her journey, including before and after photos, despite the sensitivity around hair loss.
The Results
My client has been growing her Locs for approximately 14 years, reaching about 20 inches in length. While her Dreadlocks weren't all even, she had a full head of them. Initially, I offered her two options: repairing the top portion with my instant locs while maintaining her length and filling in areas with extensions where hair was missing. However, she expressed a desire for a new look, sharing a picture of her vision. I suggested option two, which involved cutting 4-6 inches off her natural Locs to achieve a bob style. Though I'm typically hesitant to cut hair, I recognized this transformation would allow her to use her own hair to fill in the needed areas. She was thrilled with the idea but wanted to discuss it with her husband first. Less than 24 hours later, she confirmed her choice of option two, and I was excited to show her how her Locs could look. I did encourage her to opt for a longer length, and below,’ll find photos of the amazing outcome. Please note that this visit was out of state; my salon is in Florida, but I often travel to major cities for appointments. Over the last few decades, Dreadlocks and Braids have integrated themselves into popular culture and are considered hugely fashionable in many circles. Lots of young people have decided to go in for the look with mixed results depending on who they go to, to get their dreads done. With customers pouring in from all sorts of income brackets, it’s not surprising that the product they get varies significantly in terms of quality too. As we know high quality products cost money, and when it comes to dreadlocks, you really do get what you pay for.
A lot of people today want the look but do not wish to invest in high quality products that use real hair. Instead, they prefer to invest in products that use synthetic hair and are hence much cheaper. However, such products come with hidden costs in terms of the look and its longevity. For example, I’ve seen many young people today go in for a product called Faux Locs, which uses low-cost synthetic hair called Marley Hair, and then come around to my shop to correct their errors because they weren’t satisfied with the fake hair. Faux Locs have been known to get sticky and tangle together as well and get way too frizzy. In some cases they unravel and look to shiny implying they are synthetic dreadlocks. Another thing I’ve heard users complain about is the sheer weight of those things and how painful it can sometimes be to be hauling those extra pounds on your head.

This option is for those who have dreadlocks that they want to reinstall however they can't make it to us and just want to ship out the locs we clean them up and prep them up for you to reinstall. This includes color, clean, trim and crochet locs till they are cleaned and looks great to reinstall.
Repositioning dreadlocks is one of the hair transformations we offer. This is only offered to those who has a lot of hair to work with sometimes locs are joined and you have doubles or triples. Sometimes you have more in the back and needs it to be relocated to the areas most needed. We call this technique repositioning your dreadlocks. We do this with combination of instantlocs at roots then combine your locs to the instantlocs to secure they are properly installed.
Sometimes some clients request Crochet maintenance on their locs this is used throughout the whole dreadlock. When we use the crochet tools its more to reconstruct your dreadlocks and instantly enter loose hairs within the dreadlocks this maint. takes time for each loc is given individual care till its secure at roots.
Get starter dreadlocks with our afro InstantLoc bulk hair. These are handmade dreadlocks while you sit in our salon chair and we can make them any size and length desired. Client also has a balding area in the middle which he will be getting coverage for.
Faux Locs are synthetic dreadlocks use to reattach on someone hair. This hair may be human hair or mixed with synthetic however not our brand. We install your choice of hair and clients have choices to bring in there own hair. The type of extensions bought if synthetic it makes it Faux.
Natural dreadlocks may thin out at roots and needs to be reinforced and we create an overlay over your own dreadlocks with our human hair to secure your hair to stay in place.
This is for clients who cut off there dreadlocks and would like for them to be reinstalled. This is in combination of Instantloc DreadExtensions which we must first have to create your sturdy roots then we reattach your own dreadlocks. This clients bring in there own dreadlocks or sometimes purchase virgin Locs from Braids by Bee inc.

Clients sometimes need surgery when they need dreadlock repairs. It consist of many services we offer. If clients have dreadlocks that have fallen out we reattach them back to roots. If clients don't have the dreadlock that are missing we fill them in with InstantLoc Dread Extensions. This was repaired with both options. Client did have his own locs but also ran out of the amount was needed to complete whole head.
Reinforcement is done on roots but sometimes is also needed thru-out the whole individual dreadlock. We repair in between and fill in areas that are thin to keep from breaking.
LocBridge Hair units are customizable hair pieces that covers bald areas for men or woman experiencing alopecia and hair loss problems that needs coverage.
Thin sister Locs started with natural hair needs reinforcing and overlay from top to bottom to secure clients hair and add thickness client is seeking for. Many times clients start sisterlocks and realize there hair is too thin and wants it a little thicker or more body. This is for those clients experiencing those issues.
Micro size Instantloc Dread Extensions are customizable Locs created in any size and length clients would like. This client wanted chin length and was created from scratch. Clients once start there dreadlock journey can decide to keep up the routine or adding hair to roots for maint. or to crochet roots and start interlocking there own hair.
Loc Transplant is for clients requiring many services we offer to get to the outcome they would like. Clients experiencing lost of hair in crown areas needs coverage and sometimes can use there own hair to fix it. WE call this a Loc Transplant using your own dreadlocks by us cutting, relocating and repositioning dreadlocks to areas they are much more needed. We take from the back and transplant to to front areas.
